FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes, absolutely. Our secured system enables us to ensure that all your personal information is completely confidential and will be solely used to file your tax returns.
The main benefit of filing before April is that you’re getting your tax refund earlier. Filing too close to the deadline would cost you money too. CPAs get busy during the month of April due to the fact that no one likes to be late filing taxes. Hence they charge you a premium, which may not be a small amount. As for filing late, asking for an extension is very easy to do. However, if you completely forget about doing your taxes or asking for a timely extension, you’ll owe the IRS fines and interest, which can be a pretty large amount of money.
Exemption and deductions work the same way. They both are an amount that is or may be deducted from something, especially from taxable income or tax to be paid. They reduce your taxable income, which in turn lowers your tax bill. The only difference between the two is what you get and claim them for. Deductions are what you take for interest paid on student loans, charity, tax-preparation fees etc... Exemptions are what you get for the people in your family. One for yourself and then one for each dependent of your family. Credits are straight up discounts you can deduct as a whole from your tax bill. So if you have a $500 credit, you directly pay $500 less from your tax bill.
Yes, you can file your taxes separately if you’re married. You have to however consider that you may miss out on some advantages that filing as a couple might get you. Couples who file their taxes jointly get a bigger standard deduction, also have two exemptions (your and spouse’s) and can take multiple credits like Child / Dependent credit, Earned Income Tax credit etc... On the other hand, if you want to deduct a big deduction like medical costs, you may possibly pay less filing separately as filing jointly would mean combining both your incomes which may become too high.

Almost 90% of all refunds are issued within 21 days of when the return was received. You can check the status of your refund on the IRS website, “Where’s My Refund.” Information on the status of your tax return is available within 24 hours once the IRS receives the e-filed return or 4 weeks after if sent by mail a paper return.
The following are a few credits that may be available to you when filing your taxes. • Foreign Tax Credits • Child and Dependent Care Expenses • Credit for Elderly or Disabled • Education Credits • Retirement Savings Contribution Credit • Child Tax Credit • Lifetime Learning Credit • AMT Credit
If you’re getting a refund, there’s no need to panic. 2020 tax returns that are due for a refund have until April 15th (or October 15th if you’re filing for an extension) to be filed with the IRS before the statute of limitations on the refund runs out. If you don’t file by then, the U.S. Treasury will simply keep your refund as your “donation.” However, if you owe the IRS additional tax, file your return as soon as you can. Even if you can’t pay your tax bill whole or immediately. The late-filing penalty can be way many times higher than the late-payment penalty. And the longer you delay, the worse and higher the penalty gets.
